Junior Systems Administrator

As a member of our End User Technology team, the Junior Systems Administrator reports directly to the Director of End User Technology.  The Junior Systems Administrator will provide assistance to ensure that all IT-related support, including installations, upgrades, software, hardware, operating systems, and configuration issues are properly coordinated, monitored, tracked, and resolved.  The Junior System Administrator also assists in the management of the off-site IT Help Desk and serves as a point of contact on all IT-related matters for all Rakuten Marketing offices.  


  • Administration and maintenance of computer stations and software providing additional support if necessary
  • Windows troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, and providing disaster recovery support when necessary
  • Manage vendor warranty support tickets and the RMA process
  • Respond to escalated help desk issues as necessary
  • Administration and maintenance of IT tracking software
  • Interact with internal clients on all levels to help resolve IT-related issues and provide answers in a timely manner
  • Effectively communicate relevant IT-related information to peers and superiors in a timely manner Initiate and implement improvements in all areas of IT responsibility
  • Communicate effectively with internal staff to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions
  • Handle telephone changes including new phone set-up, number assignments while assisting in the coordination of telephone system upgrades
  • Provide additional facilities and office services support as necessary


  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience working in desktop and office services functions for a mid-sized company
  • Proficiency in all MS Windows platforms, including Windows Server 2008 and 2012
  • Proficiency in Mac OS and iOS
  • Understanding of system imaging and Windows and MAC deployment
  • A strong grasp of PC hardware and the ability to troubleshoot a variety of hardware, software and network issues
  • Knowledge in Avaya telephony, videoconferencing, BSD/Linux administration a plus
  • Competently manage multiple tasks while consistently remaining approachable to office staff  
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience preferred
