Strong partnerships bring Hunter US incredible success

Hunter is a British heritage brand renowned for its iconic Original boot. Founded in Scotland in 1856 by American entrepreneur Henry Lee Norris as the North British Rubber Company, the brand has a history of innovation and pioneering design.

Headquartered today in London, with offices in Scotland, New York, and Dusseldorf, the brand builds on its heritage of almost 160 years, creating footwear and outwear to protect from the weather and perform across all terrains. 

Having worked with us for the past two years on their UK affiliate program, it was an obvious choice for Hunter to not only continue, but also to grow their success and launch a US affiliate program with Rakuten Affiliate Network

MARKETING OBJECTIVES & STRATEGY

Hunter first developed an affiliate program in December 2013 with three key objectives in mind: focus on global reach and expansion of the brand, establish relationships with key influencers to promote content and to increase conversion through affiliate partnerships.

Hunter recognized the value in working with publishers that reflected their brand, so they sought out to accomplish their objectives by partnering with fashion-forward, innovative and engaging websites.

SUCCESS

Moving into the US affiliate market proved to be a great success for Hunter. In particular, Hunter attributes a lot of their success to forming strong partnerships with key US based influencers and shopping sites.

In just one year (January 2014 to January 2015), Hunter saw an amazing 240% increase in revenue growth. Revenue growth was not their only accomplishment in the short time frame though; they also saw a 58% increase in Click Active Publishers.

Some highlights from their program for the full 2014 year include:

  • Number of clicks increased 580%
  • Order Active Publishers increased by 20%
  • Orders increased by 79%

In addition, Hunter spent their first Christmas live on the US network and in the month of December 2014 generated an incredible $250k in sales through the affiliate network.

FUTURE PLANS

Rakuten Affiliate Network will continue to support Hunter through their program, building on their customer base and increasing their online brand awareness. Hunter plans to focus on popular online shopping months to go above and beyond traditional partnerships with their publishers. They are also planning innovative affiliate campaigns utilizing the latest apps and affiliate technology to do this.
