Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager will report into the Publisher Services Director. They will work alongside Publisher Services, Client Development, Advertiser Services and marketing teams; with an additional communication line to the Global Business Development team in UK, Sydney and Brazil.  

The Business Development Manager is responsible for:

  • Acquiring new publishers and business models to the Rakuten Marketing Network
  • Strategically aligning publisher recruitment efforts with Advertisers needs
  • Managing the relationship of Rank 1-3 Publishers (Rank 1 top publishers) from the initial education process through to becoming active partners
  • Introducing new innovative business models to the network to establish new types of revenue generating partnerships
  • Track and report on output vs. results
  • Work to personal revenue goals  

Cross Departmental activities include:

  • Develop and execute effective partnerships, sales, strategies and tactics
  • Represent Rakuten Marketing at tradeshows and events
  • Manage, track and report business leads using Salesforce
  • Formulate and present sales presentations
  • Assist in Prospective Advertiser pitches  

Required Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years online marketing  experience
  • Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and publisher business models
  • A good communicator, both speaking and written, you will go the extra mile to exceed publisher expectations  
  • Experience in business development or account management
  • Experience supporting customer-facing organizations and customers
  • Experience in managing performance-based marketing programs
  • Ability to work well under time constraints, and have the ability to organize and schedule work effectively in order to meet critical deadlines
  • You will be highly personable; publisher focused and determined to provide the best service possible
